My attglobal.net email was moved to att.net

Hi Folks,

To write to me about CBT Tape information, the proper email address is:

***@cbttape.org.

My attglobal.net email went away, and all emails sent there, are
now lost.  But I was able to replace it with:

***@att.net.

So both the sbgolob.cbttape.org and sbgolob.att.net addresses are
now valid.

I'm trying to make it easier to reach out for CBT Tape information,
and to contact me.  Thanks for bearing with me. Dealing with this was a
pain in the neck.  I think that AT&T is trying to get rid of the
attglobal.net domain altogether. Now I have to try and change all the
references in the CBT Tape documentation (yecch).  So at least this
message gives you a heads-up.  My cbttape.org email address is pointed
to, on the home page of www.cbttape.org, as is Sam Knutson's email.

All the best of everything to all of you.....!!!!

Sincerely,    Sam

In the interim, does it help to use an IMAP client supporting Smart Mailboxes
such as Thunderbird or Mac Mail.app?

I"m surprised you lost emails. My experience suggests that email addresses
never die. I still get email (mostly spam) that is sent to my old
netscape.net email address forwarded to my current email addresses.

I can't find any general announcement that @attglobal.net email is going
away. I find it kind of deja vuish though in that @attglobal.net was what
@ibm.net got turned into when IBM decided that us peons were diluting their
brand. If they really are making everyone that went through that conversion
(I think it as 2001 or so) and opted to accept the @attglobal.net addresses
change again, I hope people just refuse and take their business elsewhere.
Fool me once, shame on you...

My home email is att.net as provided by my U-verse internet subscription. My daughter still has sbcglobal.net, a nod to the history of the modern ATT, even though she now also has U-verse for internet. For many years both URLs have been supported by the infamous Yahoo, which is now the province of Verizon.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave...

Grownup ISVs try hard to avoid pulling the plug on long-established URLs. I expect the same will obtain if/when ATT gobbles up Time-Warner/Spectrum, which ASAIK still provides roadrunner.com, itself a nod to the eponymous cartoon character. I don't know about attglobal.net, but you're more likely get a new phone number (area code) foisted upon you than a new email address.
