The SSI manual makes repeated references to "transaction job IDs" and
"transaction job names."

What is a "transaction job" in this sense?

Charles

APPC/MVS and z/OS UNIX transactions create output, but are never
assigned complete JES job structures. For APPC/MVS the output is
aggregated under ASCHINT address spaces and for z/OS UNIX under BPXAS.
You can experiment and create "transaction jobs" yourself (in batch,
under TSO, wherever) by creating your own subtask JSAB using the
provided services. Here is me fooling around (under JES2) with various
job names and a jobid called CRAZYBOY. LOL:

Thanks. Can I do it with a UNIX command without programming?

(Not that I don't love to program ...)

Absolutely! If you write sysout from z/OS UNIX you are creating that
kind of output.
